Long bio · about 300 words

Ryan Cleckner is an attorney, founder, and leader whose career has run through four chapters: service, teaching, building, and now leading.

Raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Cleckner enlisted in the Army after high school and served in the 1st Ranger Battalion of the 75th Ranger Regiment as a special operations sniper and sniper team leader, with two combat deployments to Afghanistan. He was an honor graduate of the Primary Leadership Development Course and among the first Americans to graduate from the French Alpine Mountaineering Course.

After the Army, he trained military and police snipers while earning his political science degree at Arizona State University. He later taught Constitutional Law as an adjunct professor at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He earned his J.D. with honors from Quinnipiac University as a Dean’s Fellow Scholar on a full scholarship, while managing federal government relations for the National Shooting Sports Foundation.

Cleckner went on to serve as an attorney and vice president at Remington Outdoor Company, where he built and ran the compliance department, and he served on the board of SAAMI. Since 2015 he has led his own firm, the Law Office of Ryan M. Cleckner.

He has testified before both the U.S. House and Senate Judiciary Committees on federal agency authority, and his talk at Hillsdale College was published in Imprimis. His commentary has appeared on Fox News and Newsmax.

A builder as well as a lawyer, he co-founded Mayday Safety, emergency management software later acquired and folded into a 911 system, and founded RocketFFL, which has taught more than 20,000 students, and Gun University. He also owns North Shadow and co-owns FFLSafe. He co-hosts the Volume of Fire podcast with Nishan Campbell.

His Long Range Shooting Handbook series has sold more than 250,000 copies, and he reaches readers directly through 35,000+ Facebook followers and 13,000+ YouTube subscribers.
